| Reiki Reiki and how it works: Reiki is the Universal (God, Divine, etc. ) life force energy that surrounds us and is within all of us. A Reiki practitioner is attuned by a Reiki master to act as a passive channel for this healing energy. Reiki helps your body to better heal and balance itself. It can be used to help not only medical issues; but other issues as well. Reiki does not harm, but only helps. Reiki can be given either in person (Reiki I) or by distance (Reiki II). During a Reiki I treatment, the client simply lies on a table fully clothed. The client may feel an occasional light touch or no touch at all. Even if there is no touch involved, Reiki is still working. A person of Christian faith might call this the laying on of hands, since it is very much the same thing. A distant treatment works the same way, except there is no need for the recipient to be physically present. An appointment time is set up for when the recipient can be relaxed and free from distractions. At that time, the Reiki is sent to the recipient. What to expect during a treatment: Prior to your treatment, we would discuss any specific problems to be addressed; including areas that might be sensitive to touch due to injury. After that, the client is made comfortable if the treatment is in person. During a treatment, the client may or may not feel the energy flow. Even if you don't feel the energy, you are still receiving Reiki. During the treatment, clients become very relaxed; sometimes to the point they almost feel as though they are on the verge of falling asleep. Since I am led my intuition; I may often go back to an area of the body that I've already covered, but that I sense needs more attention. Once a treatment is completed; clients feel more relaxed, calmer, and have a better sense of well-being. If at any time during a Reiki I treatment, a client tells me he/she feels uncomfortable for any reason whatsoever; I will stop the treatment right away and we will discuss this. So far this has not happened, but I always honor my client's wishes. The client's comfort and well-being is of the greatest importance to me; after all, that's why they've come to see me. What Reiki is not: Reiki is not massage therapy, so there is no possibility of injury. Reiki is not something that will interfere with any other treatment, medical or otherwise; that you are currently receiving. In fact, it's usually just the opposite. This is why I always recommend clients (especially those with chronic or long-term illnesses) tell their doctor know they are receiving Reiki. Sometimes medications may need to be decreased; which is why it's a good idea to tell your doctor. Many health care practitioners are already familiar with Reiki. Reiki is not a transfer of one person's energy to the other; as the practitioner is passive and the energy bypasses the practitioner and flows directly to the recipient. Lastly, Reiki is not a religion. It is open to anyone willing to accept it; regardless of their personal belief systems. It also works for those who have no belief system at all. Who benefits from Reiki: Everyone can benefit from Reiki; from the elderly or terminally ill, all the way to infants. Pets even benefit from Reiki!
